Unveiling the Empowered Women of Miss Universe Philippines 2024

In honor of International Women’s Month, let us recognize the current incarnation of beauty pageants as forums for empowerment, self-expression, and advocacy.

Beauty pageants as platform for empowerment, self-expression, and advocacy

While beauty pageants have long been chastised for their emphasis on physical appearance, they have evolved into far more than just beauty contests. They are now significant platforms for women to demonstrate their brilliance, ability, and dedication to social problems.

Today’s pageants allow women to express their views on key issues ranging from gender equality and women’s rights to environmental sustainability and mental health awareness. Contestants are no longer judged solely on their external beauty, but also on their depth of character, leadership skills, and dedication to making a positive impact in their communities.

Capturing the interest and enthusiasm of Filipinos globally

In the Philippines, beauty pageants are more than what it really is. May it be a casual onlooker to an ultimate supporter, beauty pageants surely capture the interest and enthusiasm of Filipinos worldwide.

Some Filipinas, may have dreamt to be the “Most Beautiful Women” in the Universe, empowering themselves as they go along with the punches of life. This year, 55 aspirants will vie for the crown of Miss Universe Philippines 2024.

The Evolution of Miss Universe Philippines

A showcase of strength beyond aesthetics

Since 2020, the Miss Universe Philippines organization has been at the forefront of promoting women’s empowerment and diversity. Led by its National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee and Creative Director Jonas Gaffud, the organization continually strives to redefine beauty standards and provide a platform for women to showcase their strengths beyond aesthetics through its national pageant.

A Platform for Empowerment

A beacon of hope and empowerment

At its core, the Miss Universe Philippines pageant is a platform for empowerment. Through various initiatives and partnerships, including charity events and community outreach programs, the organization aims to uplift and inspire women to realize their full potential.

Whether it is through supporting local charities or advocating for important causes, Miss Universe Philippines stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment.

Representing Diversity

A powerful message of inclusivity and acceptance

One of the most beautiful aspects of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant is its celebration of diversity. Delegates from different cities and provinces across the Philippines and abroad, come together to represent their communities and share their unique stories.

This year, the national pageant scrapped the age limit for the candidates and allowed women 29 and above to compete. This diverse representation sends a powerful message of inclusivity and acceptance.
