The year 2022 has been remarkable for many people because it has been a year of recovery from the pandemic and other events that occurred in the past years.

Looking back over the last few years, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) left a lasting impression as everyone has been affected by the virus and imparted a lot of fear in the general public. Not only the health of the people is involved in the pandemic. Job stability has been a huge thing that hit a lot of Filipino. The same goes for the rise of inflation, making the prices of goods and services hard to obtain.

Another thing that left a mark on us is the typhoons that hit the country this year. Many houses and infrastructures have been destroyed, causing many people’s daily occupations to be affected.

With so much happening in the Philippines, we can be easily blinded by fear and discouragement. There are still things that we cannot avoid being grateful for. Last year was a year of hope as we saw the declining number of cases, and last October, the public now has the option to go maskless.

There are many things to be thankful for in the last year. Here are some reasons to be grateful last 2022 and start 2023 with confidence.

Life

Seeing the effect of COVID-19 on the whole nation, Filipinos have become more conscious of their health and are now taking better care of themselves. Improving the body’s immune system is now a must. That’s why drinking a lot of water and exercising has become the habit of many people. Fruits have become an essential part of their meals too. Previously, fast-food restaurants had been closed, forcing them to eat healthier food.

Home workouts have become a trend, too, ever since the emergence of COVID-19. Those spared from the worst effects of coronavirus infections now understand how much more precious life is with proper diet and exercise. Being marked safe with every typhoon that hits the country is no exception. Today Filipinos are seeing and realizing life’s true meaning by not taking it for granted.

Another thing that Filipinos should thank for last year was the 365 days of spending time with their loved ones. COVID has taught us that life could be an instant and celebrating being there with them.

Family

Community lockdowns have been a regular thing during the spread of COVID-19. It forced every household member to spend time with their family 24/7. In some cases, people were surprised how bonds could form just because they were in the same room together.

As a result, family members became closer and learned the true meaning of family time. Not getting distracted by work or school, just pure conversation with every person in the house. Even in times of trials, family relationships are being established well.

With the disasters that hit the country, people could show their sympathy for the struggles of others. Filipinos have been able to relearn the basics of humanity by being watchful of other people’s well-being during calamities.

With everything that happened last year, our friends and family helped improve our situation. Having family around offers support and security, and unconditional love; they will always seek out the best in us.

Business Opportunities

Many business owners have lost significant capital since the pandemic outbreak. However, some people thrived and did not give up despite their circumstances. They developed online selling as a new marketing trend. From there, the growth of business e-commerce becomes unstoppable.

Social media has been utilized very well by businesses allowing the emergence of digital marketing. Now, everyone can become a business owner. Many companies got back on track in 2022. This year, one main focus for this country is economic recovery which everyone should be grateful for.

Healing

As mentioned earlier, the last year marked the beginning of a slow recovery from the effects of COVID-19. Businesses are back, the cases of COVID in the country are decreasing per day, and this year, schools and universities will conduct face-to-face classes again after three years of online classes.

Not only should we thank this achievement. We should thank every frontline worker who dedicated their lives to saving others from this deadly pandemic. Aside from the pandemic, everyone should thank the internal healing that happened to them in 2022.

Some people recovered from emotional scars caused by the last few years and just healed these wounds this year. If you are one of these people, this is a feat worth thanking for as it can propel you for this year.

Safe and Secure home

Another thing Filipinos can be thankful for has a safe and secure place to stay during disasters and pandemics. Having a safe home with your family can be described as one of the blessings we can be grateful for. That is why there is no such thing as losing money over an investment that ensures the safety and security of your family.

This year is an excellent year for opportunities. While we thank the lessons we learned in 2022, we should also embrace the start of this year and make it our best year yet. Having gratitude for even the smallest things is a great attitude; while we thank 2022 for the memories, we should create new ones in 2023.
