What is Normal in a Woman’s Body (Disproving Unrealistic Standards)

Hundreds, even thousands of young girls spend a couple of hours a day wishing to look like the model they only get to see on the internet. Thousands of young ladies have a list of things they want to fix or even remove from their bodies.

Teenagers look up female figure identification techniques online to know what to wear and what not to wear, as if dressing up for a casual Saturday lunch means competing in a prestigious pageant. Women put extra effort into ensuring they’re free of any signs of hair in places other than their heads and brows. Ladies splurge on skin care products to achieve that poreless and glowy skin.

Throughout history, society has perpetuated unrealistic standards for a woman’s body, imposing rigid ideals that dictate how women should look, feel, and behave.

“Girls should not behave like that” – “You’re a woman, thus, do this/that” Through the years, women continue to hear the same sentences that never failed to halt them from peacefully starting the day without second doubting their choice of clothes for the day, or their lack of lipstick, or of not having the best smile the moment they exit their rooms.

It is almost as if women have a role to play, a script to memorize, and a storyline to follow to become considered proper and respectable women.

For years, women had to abide by unrealistic standards, which seem to become more complex and strenuous to sustain. These expectations have often revolved around aspects of the female reproductive system, body shape, bone structure, sexual intercourse or sexual activity, and even sexual stimulation, leading to harmful consequences for women’s physical and mental health.

Challenging and rejecting these unrealistic standards is crucial to foster a more inclusive and compassionate environment for women. This article sheds light on the detrimental impact of unrealistic beauty ideals on the female body and the importance of embracing diversity in female anatomy.

The Female Reproductive System and Unrealistic Standards

The female reproductive system plays a fundamental role in a woman’s life, enabling her to conceive and give birth. However, societal standards have often misrepresented this complex system, narrowing it down to specific aspects such as the sexual organs, female hormones, fallopian tube and the menstrual period.

The female reproductive system consists of the vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, all of which contribute to the fantastic process called ovulation. However, Instead of embracing the diverse functions of the female reproductive organs, society has focused on setting unrealistic expectations for women’s bodies.

Some people act allergic to the topic of the reproductive system and perceive it as disgusting and taboo. All this while having a clear and almost templated standard of a womans body.

Further, due to the concurrent cycle of rising and lowering of the female sex hormones, women are prone to mood swings, bloating, acne, and other signs that can affect their physical and mental state and hinder them from being able to function fully, are often perceived females being over dramatic and having attitude problems.

Unrealistic Beauty and Body Ideals

One of the most persistent and harmful unrealistic standards imposed on women’s bodies is related to body shape. The idealization of an “hourglass shape,” with a well-defined waist and shapely curves, has caused many women to feel inadequate about their natural body types.

Unrealistic beauty ideals fail to acknowledge the natural diversity of the female body. The high standards of society expect every woman to fit into a single mold without having to consider that every woman is different. Some may have slender arms similar to that of a doll.

Having a body that does not fit perfectly into the mold that society wishes everyone to be honed does not make someone an outcast. People are and will always be unique from one another, don’t stress yourself about not having the ideal body type or about not having the perfect waist-to-hip ratios or variations in upper body and upper leg proportions.

Sexual Intercourse and Female Figure Identification Technique

Sexual intercourse and related aspects have also fallen victim to unrealistic expectations placed upon women’s bodies. The external female anatomy or external genitals, which includes the vaginal opening and pubic hair, has been subject to judgment and scrutiny, perpetuating harmful beliefs about femininity and sexuality.

Unrealistic beauty standards have imposed a skewed vision of what is deemed “acceptable,” furthering the objectification and sexualization of women.

Menstrual Blood and Ovulation

Even the natural processes of a woman’s body, such as menstruation and ovulation or the production of fertilized egg, have been stigmatized and misunderstood due to unrealistic standards. Menstrual blood, a normal bodily function, is often considered unclean or shameful, leading to a negative perception of menstruating women.

Additionally, the process of ovulation, controlled by female sex hormones, is rarely discussed in a positive light and is sometimes used to pressure women regarding fertility and childbearing.

Embracing Diversity and Disapproving Unrealistic Standards

It is essential to disapprove of unrealistic standards that perpetuate female body shaming, unrealistic beauty ideals, and distorted views of sexuality and femininity. By challenging these harmful norms, we can foster a society that embraces the beauty and diversity of every woman’s body.

This requires promoting body positivity, celebrating different body types, and educating individuals about the natural functions of the female reproductive system.

Unrealistic standards imposed on a woman’s body, encompassing the female reproductive system, body shape, sexual intercourse, and other related aspects, have long been a cause for concern. These standards harm women physically and emotionally and perpetuate gender inequality and objectification.

It is high time we disapprove of such norms and instead foster an environment that celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of the female body. Embracing realistic standards and promoting body positivity will empower women to be confident in their bodies and lead to a more inclusive and compassionate society.
