Down south, in the Visayas Region, building homes confirm the pace of the economy. From nostalgic ancestral houses to charming country homes, the places for nurturing families have taken the shape of theme communities reflecting a slice of a comfortable world. Many cities in the Visayas have been touched by this kind of property development, changing, the landscape with the architecture, colors and affluent air of another world.

Camella, the subsidiary of Vista Land, the country's biggest developer, has developed the landscape for theme communities in the island of Panay. Panay is composed of five provinces, four of them in the large island –  Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique –  and one in its next-door neighbor –  the island of Guimaras. The developer has planted the roots of theme communities in four provinces.

Camella's plan follows the mood established in two communities in Iloilo City – Camella and Savannah City, a 300hectare township. On Aug. 31, Camella will open a Mideterrean -theme community in Capiz. On Sept. 27, another community will be opened in Aklan.

Soon, a resort-themed property will open in Guimaras, an island known for its beautiful beaches and luscious mangoes.

Meanwhile, on the drawing board is a theme community in Antique. It will not take long for those new addresses to be created, as the developer has established a reputation in completing development projects beyond the promised physical amenities. (Camella's communities also present a strong investment opportunity.) With this ambitious plan of being "Big in Panay", Camella has added another property milestone in its map.

The milestones that it has built around Panay has recognized the islands' remarkable progress. Panay is known for its colorful history at least two of its churches have been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO –  culture –  the home of the famous Ati-Atihan Festival is in Kalibo, Aklan and commerce its port is one of the busiest in the country. It is also the center of education in the region. Travelers have discovered the island for its pristine beaches the world – famous Boracay Island is part of Aklan province.

In Iloilo City

Savannah City, Camella's 300-hectare flagship property in Iloilo City, is now a vibrant community of local residents who have chosen to deepen their roots in their home province. A wide street lined by trees welcomes residents home, leading to a rotunda that connects The Crest, The Trails, The Glades, The Glen, The Orchard, and Lessandra Savannah's six residential neighborhoods exuding the graciousness of the U.S. southern state of Georgia.

In Capiz

Everyone knows the tagline of Capiz the Seafood Capital of the Philippines. With its 80km coastline, it has rich fishing grounds, mangroves that have been converted into fishponds.

This is where the Spanish established their second settlement in the country after Cebu. Capiz has thus come to be known as the seat of Christianity in the country still boasting the Philippines second oldest church and Asia's largest church bell.

Roxas City, the capital of the province, is where the Camella Capiz community will open on Aug. 31. The property inside the city, eight minutes from business establishments, hospitals, malls, and schools. The city airport is within eight minutes from the gates, and its deep sea port is an easy 15 minute ride. Right outside the gates, one has easy access to public transport that makes movement easy.

Built on 12 rolling hectares in Barangay Sibaguan, Roxas City, Camella Capiz is a Spanish-inspired haven decked with homes in the colors of the Mediterranean sunlight as it bounces off cliff side rocks and beached coral. A central rotunda greets residents and guests upon entering the property's securely guarded gates.

Camella Capiz offers a selection of the group's most popular homes. From the Camella series, one can choose from the inspiring Elaisa, Drina, Dorina, Carina, Carmela, Carmina, Marga and Rina.

In the center of all this is the clubhouse. It holds function rooms and open spaces as well as biking and jogging lanes. The clubhouse also boasts a swimming pool and ball courts and playgrounds where the community can bond and rejuvenate.

In Aklan

In Aklan, Camella's instinct for a good location led to an 11-hectare property in Barangay Joyao Joyao in Numancia, sitting at the shoulder of the center of Kalibo, the home of the famous Ati-Atihan Festival. There, the country's biggest developer built an Italian-inspired community designed around a circular master plan that radiates from a beautifully landscaped rotunda. The tree-lined avenue stems from the securely-guarded, and welcoming entrance leads one to a collection of homes in the gentle colors of Mediterranean earth.

At the heart of of the community is the clubhouse, designed as an opulent Italian villa. It will house rooms for functions where the residents can come together, as well as rejuvenating open green spaces, parks, gardens, and nature paths for biking and strolling. Around the clubhouse are a swimming pool and ball courts and playgrounds.

Camella Aklan offers a broad collection of homes from its popular Camella and Lessandra series. plans.

The community is an easy 10 minutes from the central Kalibo, giving residents access to the schools, hospitals, business and government establishments.
