Down south, in the Visayas Region, building homes confirm the pace of the economy. From nostalgic ancestral houses to charming country homes, the places for nurturing families have taken the shape of theme communities reflecting a slice of a comfortable world. Many cities in the Visayas have been touched by this kind of property development, changing, the landscape with the architecture, colors and affluent air of another world.
Camella, the subsidiary of Vista Land, the country's biggest developer, has developed the landscape for theme communities in the island of Panay. Panay is composed of five provinces, four of them in the large island – Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique – and one in its next-door neighbor – the island of Guimaras. The developer has planted the roots of theme communities in four provinces.
Camella's plan follows the mood established in two communities in Iloilo City – Camella and Savannah City, a 300hectare township. On Aug. 31, Camella will open a Mideterrean -theme community in Capiz. On Sept. 27, another community will be opened in Aklan.
Soon, a resort-themed property will open in Guimaras, an island known for its beautiful beaches and luscious mangoes.
Meanwhile, on the drawing board is a theme community in Antique. It will not take long for those new addresses to be created, as the developer has established a reputation in completing development projects beyond the promised physical amenities. (Camella's communities also present a strong investment opportunity.) With this ambitious plan of being "Big in Panay", Camella has added another property milestone in its map.
The milestones that it has built around Panay has recognized the islands' remarkable progress. Panay is known for its colorful history at least two of its churches have been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO – culture – the home of the famous Ati-Atihan Festival is in Kalibo, Aklan and commerce its port is one of the busiest in the country. It is also the center of education in the region. Travelers have discovered the island for its pristine beaches the world – famous Boracay Island is part of Aklan province.
